Wok

Wok is a versatile cooking vessel with rounded bottom and originated from China. Its shape allows food to be seared by intense heat in a small hot area at the bottom when cooking. A person can easily stir food around in a wok to combine with spices or cook food evenly with minimum amount of cooking oil and very little fuel.

The wok is perfect for stir-frying, and can also be used many other ways, such as deep frying, braising, steaming, stewing, or making soup. It is the most important cooking vessel in Chinese cooking.
