Braised Beef with Tomatoes

Feature: tender, sour & sweet
Serves 1 to 2 and ready in 40-45 min

Ingredients

  • 250g beef
  • 400g tomatoes
  • 2 stalks spring onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 5 slices ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Preparation (30 min)

  • Slice beef and marinate in soy sauce and 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch for half an hour
  • Cut tomatoes into medium chunks
  • Mince ginger, garlic and spring onion
  • Mix 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch with water as sauce

 

Instruction (10-15 min)

  • Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil until hot
  • Slide in beef and fry until almost cooked
  • Leave oil in wok, remove beef and drain
  • Reheat oil and add ginger, garlic and tomatoes
  • Stir-fry for 1 min
  • Fill wok with water and mater sure water level is right below tomatoes
  • Sprinkle in salt and sugar
  • Return beef to wok and cook for a few minutes
  • Pour in prepare cornstarch sauce
  • Stir until well-combined and serve
